We are delighted to show you the coverage on upcycling workshops we carried out at the end of May.
Upcycling – that is giving a second life to old or used things, is a great idea for preventing overproduction and relieving our planet.
What we did was inviting children and adults for the workshops on upcycling of clothing and textiles, showing that redesigning clothes not only gives them new glare, but also may be a great fun and creative way of spending your free time. Paints, sequins, patches, iron-on pieces — they all can save a T-shirt, which is no longer interesting for us, or a stained dress, from ending up in the waste bin and by this make them still serve us for a long time. The workshops were accompanied by a garage sale where the participants could exchange clothes, toys, books, board games — everything we do not use any more and what others may need.
By taking up such initiatives we want to make the youngest aware of our responsibility for the natural environment. We really hope that this kind of campaigns will ultimately bring smaller landfills.
The events were organised within the “Luma Foundation paints the town green” project financed from the funds of the National Freedom Institute — Centre for Civil Society Development, under
the Governmental Programme: Civic Initiatives Fund for 2021-2023.
